Scholarship Opportunities 

IUE Local 106 2025-26 Scholarships

Our membership has approved and authorized three (3) $2000 scholarships for the 2025 school year.  Applications will be available at the Union Office beginning January 2^nd, 2025.  The application window is January 2^nd through April 25^th.  Members, members spouses, children, and grandchildren who have graduated High School are eligible. 

Linda Donahue, Professor at Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (retired) acts as our third-party evaluator.  Applicants may win only once.

Union Plus Scholarships

“Union Plus” is offering a Scholarship for the 2025 school year.  One-time awards range from $500 to $4000 and the deadline for application is Friday, January 31st, 2025.  Go to: www.unionplus.org and click on “Education” and follow the link to create an account so you can access the application form.

IUE-CWA Scholarships

Five (5) $4000 James B. Carey scholarships are awarded annually.  Although not yet posted online, the application period usually begins in Mid-January.

The IUE-CWA Local 106 scholarship  Up to five scholarships of $2000 each are available. The deadline for submission is the end of April. Candidates may only win once and must fulfill all portions of the application in order to be considered.  Applications are available at the union office in building 105 next to the break room.  You can also see Chairman of Trustees, Mike Feczer or Secretary / Treasurer, Michele Isaksen for a copy. Application is by POSTAL MAIL ONLY. The mailing address is located on the last page of the application.

"Union Plus" scholarships vary from $500 to $5000. Applications are made online. www.unionplus.org  The link is at the bottom of their page under "Education". The deadline is the end of the calendar year. Awards will be granted in the following May. 

The CWA Joe Beirne Scholarship Program offers 16 partial scholarships each of $4000. Winners will also receive a second year scholarship for the same amount contingent upon satisfactory academic accomplishment. Part-time students under 12 credits will receive half the money. Winners are from a lottery system. The deadline for applications is the end of April. Apply online at https://cwa-union.org/pages/beirne

Finally, "Union Plus" offers free college enrollment and tuition for online classes via Eastern Gateway Community College. There's a long list of available majors. Check out the details at: www.unionplus.org or see Mike Feczer for details.

Lockheed Martin offers 150 Vocational scholarships up to $5000 for 2013. Applications open in January and close on at the end of March.  https://learnmore.scholarsapply.org/lmvocational/ 

Lockheed Martin offers up to 200 STEM scholarships up to $10K. Applications will close at the end of March. Application is online at: https://start.scholarsapply.org/
